The WW1 film by Peter Jackson. It takes an unconventional approach to showing the events of WW1 - unlike a documentary, it does not mention places or even specific dates, or (in)famous figures. So it took some getting used to if you're used to documentaries.
Overall it was a decent retelling - the focus on the average soldier who joined the war is refreshing, and the most important part to me since it seems rare for war documentaries to actually show the experiences of the average, probably underage british boy who joined the war "for the country".
Hopefully this hits closer to people than the usual documentary which can seem unfeeling and distant.
I would have to watch it again though, since the 2 people right behind me was whining and groaning every five minutes? Did you have to audibly react every time something happens? YOU'RE IN AN CINEMA GDI. And a small one at that!!!
It's a recolored WW1 film, so I have no idea why they were shocked at seeing trench foot or severe injuries. They were so loud, even the person in front of me was covering one of their ears.
Just the thought of it makes me pissed.
Anyway I think it's a decent film, but it may be more interesting to someone who is not as familiar with the world wars.

Date: 2019-06-20 01:44 pm (UTC)The cinema only showed it twice here as of now, so here's hoping that they would do more showings.

Date: 2019-06-20 02:00 pm (UTC)They did a couple showings here in December, I think, and then again a few months after. But always at, like, 3pm during the week, which is when I'm asleep no matter what.
