vermicomposting log #1
Jul. 5th, 2019 12:19 pmBought a bunch of worms and started composting. Under a cut because I'm sure no one wants to be suddenly assailed with descriptions of worm and their poo. And also other insects.
The first few days weren't too well - too much veggies and fruit flies came. Today's day 5 and thankfully the vegetables are gone. No more fruit flies! These were Malaysian Blue Worms.
Found another supplier and the stock of 250 worms just came, added them in, and they seem to be settling well. These are Afican Nightcrawlers.
It's been a bit hard to find appropriate info for me since most of it on the web are for temperate countries and not tropical ones. But all seems to be going well, and I don't have worms escaping at all (for now).
My household really outputs quite a bit of food waste - the worms can't keep up with it!
