Weekly ramblings #4
Jan. 28th, 2019 08:11 pmMy new keyboard came! It's such an improvement over the previous one (Logitech M375s). My hands and wrists don't hurt anymore, and no more stuck keys!
I was already interested in getting a mechanical keyboard, but due to space constraints I was trying to find a wireless and compact keyboard, but unfortunately as with most niche stuff, they cost a lot. Finally found Anne Pro 2 which fits the above criteria and is reasonably priced for a mechanical keyboard. Cost me around USD70 including shipping, which is way less than the other ones on the market. (Of course, I have the advantage of being able to buy and ship directly from china. I think the ones sold in US stores are around USD120 or so.)
After a week I'm quite satisfied with the keyboard - most importantly, no more pain! Got Gateron brown switches because I don't want the keyboard to be noisy, but with the metal backing for the keycaps the sounds of typing is still rather loud. Its compactness means it's a 60% keyboard - no numpad and F row and arrow keys. Surprisingly, I got used to it very fast as the arrow keys were mapped to the right bottom most keys.
Only thing I have an issue with is its thickness - a wrist rest is most likely a future purchase unless my wrists are fine with being at a constant incline. It's inclined towards the user too, which isn't that "ergonomic" - but as with most mechanical keyboards, that can be modded (once I have money lol). The thickness is understandable anyway, since they have to include a battery pack inside.

All in all, not a bad purchase at all. I hope to use this keyboard for years to come!
Didn't go to any museums (oops) but I did go to a screening of Lu over The Wall. Which reminds me that Gundam NT is actually showing in theaters right now too, so I may go and watch that, despite having just no knowledge of Gundam UC, lol. The poster with the three characters in...some kind of pose intrigued me.
I mean, look at this:

I'm not sure what's happening there, but I would like to applaud the artist for being able to even draw it.
And also to watch spiderverse again, with my father this time, because it's really great. Though I do have some reservations about the movie....
Thoughts on Lu over the Wall (no spoilers, or at least nothing you wouldn't find on its Wikipedia page)
It's a surreal looking movie that I enjoyed. After watching it I saw a critic describe it as having a "by the numbers" plot, which is accurate but I don't think that detracts from it at all. It's the execution that matters. Not every movie has to be mindblowing or change your views or something, man.
I'm the kind of person who wants to know EVERYTHING and have everything be resolved, which means Lu over the Wall left me feeling a little unsatisfied but I can deal with it. The major threads are resolved anyway.
I cried a little at the climax and was probably the only one in the theater to do so, lol. I don't know what got to me in the moment. Also really liked how they switch in and out of the present and memories by changing the style of animation.
Anyway, also please watch Ping Pong the animation by the same director, the great Masaaki Yuasa.

Date: 2019-01-28 02:11 pm (UTC)I'm still on the fence about watching it precisely because I then will be spending money to be confused for 1.5+h, but then again, pretty animation of robots fighting each other. On the big screen!!
It's also me trying to do my part to convince the cinemas here to continue to air animated movies that's not from disney lmao.
I wish they brought in Gundam Thunderbolt - that totally deserves to be seen on the big screen.
